Mandeville Canyon Association Hosts Round Up Celebration

Mandeville Canyon Association held its annual round up on Sunday, Oct. 5 from 3 pm to 6 pm.

This was a fun-filled western-themed activity. A petting zoo with miniature animals was a great hit with the children, and adults.

Ponies were available for children to ride, with supervision for safety. A large variety of food and drink was provided as well as western music that added to the energy of this event.

Buses were provided for residents at 12 locations marked with bundles of hay around the neighborhood as parking is difficult on Mandeville Canyon Road.

Special guests included L.A. Councilman Mike Bonin (Council District 11), his senior counsel Norman Kulla, and members of L.A.’s fine fire and police departments.

Bonin spoke for just a few minutes, joking that he was told he could speak for only 15 minutes. But, as he did not want to lose votes in the future, he would only talk for just two or three minutes. He kept his promise. This was a great event, and I can’t wait until next year.

Brentwood Hills Hosts Annual Meeting, Party

Brentwood Hills Homeowners Association (BHHA) held its annual meeting and party Sunday, Oct. 19 at the Mandel’s home.

Potential new members were encouraged to join, get to know their neighbors, and learn about the important issues BHHA has done for the community.

These include protection of the parkland surrounding the neighborhood, working with LAFD on fire protection, working to better secure Brentwood Hills, and working with local and state officials on important issues to the community.

L.A. Councilman Mike Bonin and his senior counsel, Norman Kulla, joined the party.

Other guests included LAPD representative, Maria Gray. Both Bonin and Gray spoke briefly.

Updates were provided on DWP work to upgrade electrical circuits to help prevent the long power outages we experienced this year. Additionally, other updates included Archer’s School’s expansion plans and how these may impact the community, among other things.

Also held was the annual election of directors to the BHHA’s board. Residents are encouraged to join the volunteer board.

There was food, drinks, a balloon artist, face-painter, and entertainment.
