Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris will be holding a fundraising event in Brentwood on July 20. The luncheon is scheduled to take place at the home of real estate developer Tom Safran. As owner of Thomas Safran & Associates, Safran has seen the development of thousands of luxury units, mixed-use rental housing, and affordable housing for low- income seniors throughout Southern California.
Expected to be in attendance is Los Angeles Business Journal’s May 2006 Woman Executive of the Year and former Los Angeles Unified School District board president Marlene Canter. Other names on the official invite include real estate developer Michael Dieden, James Frost, and William Yi. Following the luncheon in Brentwood, a second fundraising event is scheduled for July 21 at the home of former United States ambassador to Germany John B. Emerson and Kimberly Marteau Emerson.
In the race for the Democratic nomination, Mayor Pete Buttigieg, former Vice President Joe Biden, and Senators Elizabeth Warren, Bernie Sanders and Kamala Harris have raised millions to further their cause. With $12 million raised so far, Harris has accumulated significantly less than her fellow candidates but hopes to create momentum during her Los Angeles fundraising events.
