Smash & Grab Jewelry Theft, Stolen Audi: Brentwood Crime Update

Brentwood Crime Stats for the Week of November 16 – 23, 2020

From the Los Angeles Police Department via the Brentwood Community Council.

Recent Brentwood crimes include a smash and grab jewelry theft and a stolen Audi. Read more below.

Burglary

11-16-20 0800 Hrs/ 11-18-20 ) 700 Hrs, 11600 Block of Kiowa Ave, Susp(S) smashed victim’s sliding glass window and entered apartment. Susp(s) removed property and fled the location. Property taken was jewelry.

11-20-20 2020 Hrs, 1000 Block of Barrington Ave, Victim heard noise from front of the apartment. Victim observed susp attempting to cut screen. Susp ran off when he saw the victim. No property taken. Suspect described as a male Hispanic approx. 5’9’’ and 180 lbs, approx. 35 years old with short hair.

BFMV (Burglary from Motor Vehicle)

11-15-20 1300 Hrs/ 11-17-20 0900 Hrs, 11800 Block of Goshen Ave, Susp(s) smashed side window of vehicle and removed property. Property taken was U.S. currency. Vehicle was parked in apartment garage.

11-16-20 0550 Hrs, 300 Block of Berendo St., Susp(s) entered garage and smashed passenger window of vehicle and removed property. Property taken was a child’s car seat. Vehicle was parked in parking garage. 

11-16-20 1600 Hrs/ 11-17-20 1130 Hrs, 11600 Block of Sunset Blvd, Susp(s) used saw to cut off the victim’s catalytic converter. Vehicle was a 2009 Toyota Prius. Vehicle was parked in parking lot.

11-16-20 2100 Hrs/ 11-17-20 1200 Hrs, 11800 Block of Darlington Ave, Susp(s) smashed victim’s rear window of vehicle and removed property. Property taken was a knife. Vehicle was parked in parking garage.

11-17-20 1930 Hrs/ 11-18-20 0815 Hrs, 11900 Block of Mayfield Ave, Susp(s) smashed victim’s passenger side window and removed property. Property taken was a laptop and makeup. Vehicle was parked on public street.

GTA (Grand Theft Auto)

11-17-20 1800 Hrs/ 11-19-20 0800 Hrs, 1900 Block of Montana Ave, Susp(s) entered parking garage and gained access into two vehicle which were tandem parked with THE KEYS LEFT INSIDE. Susp(s) drove off in both victims vehicles. Vehicles taken were a 2020 Toyota Corolla and 2013 Subaru Impreza.

11-18-20 1630 Hrs/ 11-18-20 2000 Hrs, 11300 Block of Bolas St, Susp(s) entered UNLOCKED vehicle and started vehicle with the KEYS THAT WERE LEFT IN THE VEHICLE. Susp(s) drove off in victim’s vehicle. Vehicle taken was a 2019 Audi A6.

Please LOCK YOUR VEHICLE AND DON’T LEAVE THE KEYS IN YOUR CAR. I know it’s a simple thing but most of the stolen vehicles could have been prevented. Especially when tandem parking the thieves know that many times the cars keep a spare in the car for movement of the vehicles.  

Theft

11-16-20 0400 Hrs- 0500 Hrs, 100 Block of Carmelina Ave, Sup(s) entered open garage door and removed (2) bikes from location. 

11-16-20 1800 Hrs/ 11-17-20 0900 Hrs, 11800 Block of Kiowa Ave, Susp(s) entered gated condo parking garage and cut bicycle lock and fled with victim’s bike. 

11-18-20 1550 Hrs, 11940 San Vicente (CVS), Suspect entered location and placed numerous bottles of alcohol in bag and fled the location without paying.
