Brentwood Community Council to hold April meeting this Wednesday
By Sam Catanzaro
At their meeting this week, the Brentwood Community Council (BCC) will discuss a new housing option at the West Los Angeles VA, homeless shelters in public spaces, plus hear an update from law enforcement on a recent homicide on San Vicente Boulevard.
The meeting, which will take place on Wednesday April 14 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. via Zoom, will begin with a moment of gratitude for the recent BCC food drive followed by a brief crime update for the Brentwood area from Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) Senior Lead Officer Matt Kirk.
Then the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department will provide an update on a homicide that occurred on San Vicente Boulevard next to the VA recently. This will be followed by an announcement of a new homeless housing option at the VA.
The BCC will then vote on a motion to oppose Councilmember Mike Bonin’s plan to use public spaces across the Westside for temporarily shelters, unless the plan is amended. A draft of the BCC letter is included below.
Other items include motions to support to support Westside Regional Alliance of Councils’ position opposing the City CAO suggested Appeal Fee Increase to $16,097 and the Alliance’s stance on two state housing bills.
