Program to deal with rodents, including gophers, in yards

Brentwood is experiencing a surge in gophers and other rodents. A program that facilitates nesting barn owls addresses this issue in an environmentally-conscious way.
According to the Brentwood Community Council (BCC), Brentwood is experiencing a surge in gophers and voles, particularly due to the rains last year, which led to a hearty breeding season.
At the upcoming BCC meeting on August 11, there will be a presentation on a barn own nesting program that can help get these pesky rodents.
“If rodents, including gophers and voles, are an issue at your home or multifamily building, perhaps the Barn Owl Nesting Box Program is for you!” the BCC said. “1 Barn Owl Family consumes about 3,000 rodents a year and its as simple as providing them a home on your property – they’ll usually find it and move right in. Barn Owls do not eat cats or dogs and they are docile around humans.”
