Campbell’s Soup Heiress Ashley Dorrance Kaplan Buys Brentwood Home

$9 million price tag on property

By Dolores Quintana

Campbell’s Soup heiress, philanthropist and equestrienne, Ashley Dorrance Kaplan, has purchased a new home in Brentwood as reported by The Dirt.com.

Kaplan’s new home is located in Brentwood and costs $9 million, which the heiress bought at a discounted price of the original $10 million. Kaplan is the great-granddaughter of John T. Dorrance, the founder and president of Campbell’s Soup and the inventor of condensed soups. She is the daughter of Bennett Dorrance, a developer who still has a 15% stake in Campbell’s. Kaplan owns Bellisima Ranch, an equestrian training facility with full-service horse boarding in Arizona.

In addition, Kaplan is on the board of directors of The Dorrance Family Foundation and the Dorrance Family Legacy Trust. Kaplan is building a real estate portfolio in Los Angeles and this is one of the three properties that she owns in the area. Kaplan also owns a Pacific Palisades home that she purchased for $9 million in 2011 and horse stables in Sullivan Canyon in Brentwood.

This is a newly built gated home in a cul de sac which is close to the Riviera Country Club. The home contains six bedrooms and seven bathrooms. According to The Dirt.com, the home has “over 6,700 square feet of open-concept living space on two levels boasting soaring ceilings and wide-plank walnut floors throughout, plus high-end amenities ranging from a movie theater and glass-enclosed office, to a Control4 home-automation system and security cameras.”

The main level has a foyer with a chandelier that opens out into the formal living and dining rooms. This area comes with a floor-to-ceiling leathered marble fireplace, wet bar, and Fleetwood pocketing doors that connect the interior with the backyard and with the gourmet-style kitchen. The kitchen has quarter-sawn walnut cabinets, Thermador appliances, a breakfast nook and an oversized eat-in island.

The master bedroom is ultra-luxurious with a vaulted ceiling, walk-in closet, soaking tub and steam shower in the deluxe bath, with a private patio and fireplace. The outdoor area is equally as well appointed on grounds comprising half an acre with a pool and spa, a pool house and kitchenette, and a built-in barbeque and bar and a two-car garage.
