Bel-Air Mansion Where The Beatles Stayed Hits Rental Market

Dubbed as “Beatle Manor,” the estate rented by the iconic band during their first North American tour is now available for lease after 50 years. The 6,310 sq ft mansion features gardens, a swimming pool, and a remodeled kitchen while maintaining its classic style

In Bel-Air, the mansion where The Beatles stayed during their first North American tour in 1964 is available to lease as reported by Architectural Digest. During Beatlemania, the period when crazed fans of the group mobbed them wherever they went, the group’s concert at the Hollywood Bowl sold out in four hours. Originally, the Fab Four had reservations at The Ambassador Hotel, but the hotel canceled on the group for fears that they would not be able to handle the group’s crazed fans. Reginald Owen, actor in Mary Poppins and British subject, threw the group a lifeline and rented his mansion to them for $1,000. Adjusted for inflation, that would mean $9,700 in 2023 dollars.

Now this same estate, nicknamed Beatle Manor, is back on the rental market after half a century at the cost of $48,000 a month. With 6,310-square-foot of living space, the mansion has gardens, mature palm and avocado trees, terraces, fountains and a swimming pool that John Lennon apparently loved to jump into with all of his clothes on.

The home has dark hardwood floors and vaulted ceilings with exposed beams with a classic style and the red clay roof tiles are so popular in California. The kitchen has been remodeled, including a butler’s pantry and stone island, but the fully functional fireplaces and candlestick chandeliers that have been a part of the house for decades still remain. There is a guest bedroom on the main floor that could also be used as staff quarters or an office.

On the second floor, the master bedroom has its own balcony, a raised sleeping space that branches off from the main part of the suite and is set off by two columns, and dual bathrooms. Sconces on the walls of the second floor have a Gothic style and look like candlesticks. There are four more bedrooms on the second floor all of them with ensuite bathrooms.

The Agency’s Trevor Zien is the listing agent.
