The South Brentwood Residents Association Announces Beautification Project

The Event Will Be Held On Saturday, June 20, Registration Is Encouraged

By Dolores Quintana

The Brentwood Community Council has announced via its newsletter that the South Brentwood Residents Association and Volunteers Cleaning Communities will be hosting a neighborhood beautification project for the area on June 24, 2023.

Barbara Roll, SBRA Advisory Board Member, states that the first beautification project in South Brentwood will be led by Volunteers Cleaning Communities and will take place on Saturday, June 24, 2023, from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. The group will meet at the parking lot of Vicente Foods, 12027 San Vicente Blvd, and launch our clean-up of litter on some of the major streets and sidewalks in South Brentwood.  VCC will provide protective equipment, including gloves, sanitizer, vests, grabbers, and collection bags.  In order to have enough PPE that day, please register at the VCC site here.  Go to the link titled EVENTS-WEST SIDE to register.

This is an excellent way to beautify our area while experiencing some of the added benefits:

*. Morning exercise
* Chance to meet like-minded volunteers
* Prevent plastic and paper from storm drains and oceans
* Have some fun together
* Make a difference in South Brentwood

Anyone needing community service volunteer hours is encouraged to participate in this event.  Students, scouts, and others will receive a certificate documenting their service. It’s important to register and let VCC know if a certificate is desired. Parents will need to sign a waiver for children under the age of 18.

Beautifying our neighborhood keeps our area attractive to new residents and new home buyers, and a sense of pride and ownership in our community. For those who wish, we will have coffee after our clean-up. Roll said, “We hope to see you on the 24th!”
