Engaging Events For Adults Await at the Brentwood Library this July

The Brentwood Library is proud to present a series of exciting adult events this July, offering various activities to cater to various interests. All events are free and open to the public, providing an excellent opportunity for community members to engage in enriching experiences. Mark your calendars for these upcoming events:

Frida Kahlo: Tree of Hope – Saturday, July 8th at 2:00 p.m. Immerse yourself in the captivating world of the iconic Mexican artist Frida Kahlo. Dr. Gloria Arjona and performer Karin Guerra will bring Kahlo’s artistry to life through live music, poetic words, and a living reproduction of her most famous self-portraits. Gain insights into Kahlo’s life, her artistic expression, and the symbolism embedded in her works. This event promises a unique and immersive experience that will resonate with art enthusiasts and admirers of Kahlo’s legacy.

Meditation – Saturday, July 15th at 2:00 p.m. Join Doug Frankel for an enlightening discussion on the extraordinary effects of meditation. Discover how meditation can reduce stress-related responses, improve concentration, enhance clarity of thought, and promote mental equilibrium. Whether you are a beginner or a seasoned practitioner, this session offers valuable insights and techniques to incorporate meditation into your daily life. Explore the profound benefits of this ancient practice and embark on a journey of self-discovery and relaxation.

An Afternoon of Laughter and Magic: Kaufman-Brentwood Library’s 29th Anniversary Celebration – Saturday, July 22nd at 2:00 p.m. In celebration of the library’s 29th anniversary, prepare to be entertained, amused, and amazed by the incredible “El Ropo” (Phil Van Tee). A graduate of the Ringling Brothers Circus School and a former Professor of Magic at the Magic Castle University, El Ropo is a master of comedy and sleight of hand magic. His performance will captivate the audience, leaving them in awe of his mesmerizing illusions. This event promises an afternoon filled with laughter, wonder, and astonishment.

Olive Oil Tasting – Tuesday, July 25th at 6:30 pm. Expand your culinary knowledge with an olive oil-tasting event. Explore the characteristics of extra virgin olive oil and learn how to taste it for balance and flavor. Discover the intricacies of the olive oil production process, explore different olive types (mono cultivars), and gain insights into which oils pair best with various foods. Olive oil samples and light snacks will be provided, offering a delightful sensory experience for all attendees.
