Celebrated Architect Pierre Koenig’s Iconic Mid-Century Residence Hits Los Angeles Real Estate Market

The Personal Home of Pierre Koenig Listed for $4.995 Million in Brentwood

The Los Angeles residence belonging to mid-century architect Pierre Koenig, famed for designing some of the city’s iconic Case Study Houses, is now on the market for $4.995 million, as reported by Mansion Global. Known for his architectural masterpiece, the Stahl House, Koenig’s personal residence, recognized as “Koenig House No. 2” by the L.A. Conservancy, presents a unique opportunity for architectural enthusiasts. The home is currently listed as a sale pending on the listing agent’s site.

Dalton Gomez of Christie’s International RE | AKG, handling the sale with colleague Aaron Kirman, remarked, “Pierre Koenig is one of the greatest architects of our time, and to own his residence is a trophy unto itself.” Constructed in 1985, the steel home spans three levels and features a light-filled, open floor plan with glass walls dividing and connecting various rooms. The centerpiece is a three-story atrium crisscrossed by walkways and staircases.

Boasting 3,000 square feet, the residence includes a spacious living area, modern kitchen, dining space, and a library nook. Gomez notes the house’s uniqueness due to its all-metal infrastructure—the bedrooms open to the courtyard, creating a “jewelry-box feel” throughout the home. Koenig’s former office, still intact, adds to the property’s historical charm.

Gomez emphasizes that potential buyers gain more than just a home; they acquire bragging rights to a space chosen by Pierre Koenig for both living and creating. The house, referred to as a trophy property, carries the legacy of one of the most celebrated architects in Los Angeles.

Previously in Koenig’s family, the residence underwent restoration by his stepchildren after his passing. It last changed hands in 2017 for $3.46 million. The current owners, however, could not be reached for comment, adding an air of mystery to this architectural gem now available to a new generation of homeowners.
