Children’s Librarian Maddy Gillette Moves on from Brentwood Branch to Another Role

Beloved Librarian Leaves Brentwood Branch for New Role at City’s Largest Library

It has been announced that Maddy Gillette, the wonderful Children’s Librarian at the Donald Bruce Kaufman – Brentwood Branch Library has announced that Gillette is moving on to a position at the Central Los Angeles Library as Children’s Librarian this month.

The email said, “This is both very exciting (I’ll get to work in our city’s biggest library and really focus on the work that I love doing so much!), but also very sad, as I have come to feel so connected with many of our kids and families here!”

The remaining programs we will have at the library before I leave are as follows:

Tuesday, 10/8 from 3:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.: Caregiver & Kid Language Learning

Wednesday, 10/9 at 10:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m.: Toddler/Preschool Storytime

Thursday, 10/10 from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.: Brick-Building Playtime

Tuesday, 10/15 from 3:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.: Caregiver & Kid Language Learning

Wednesday, 10/16 at 10:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m: Toddler/Preschool Storytime

Wednesday, 10/16 from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.: Bonus Brick-Building Playtime! – We will have an extra LEGOs session on my last day for anyone who’d like to join

Currently, Gilette is working with the branch’s Senior Librarian to continue as many programs as possible when Maddy moves on, as the library is an important space for Brentwood’s little ones to learn.

The programs that will continue after 10/16:

  • Every Tuesday from 3:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. – Caregiver & Kid Language Learning
  • Every Thursday from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. – Brick Building Playtime
  • All STAR Volunteers (Tuesdays 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., Wednesdays 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., Saturdays 10:00 a.m.to 12:00 p.m.)
  • October 21st at 4:00 p.m. – Soil Science with GrowingGreat (ages 5-10)
  • November 2nd at 2:00 p.m. – Who Framed the Big Bad Wolf? Puppet Show (all ages)

The programs that will end after 10/16:

This email list will continue to notify everyone about library programs, but likely not every week. You can also check our website at lapl.org/brentwood to keep up to date on library events or take a calendar next time you’re in the building.

Gillette added, “All of you have made my time here at the Brentwood branch SO special! I have loved getting to see your kids grow and learn. My email address will stay the same once I start this new position, so please feel free to reach out with updates or to tell me if you plan to come visit the Central Library– I would love to see you there!” and added, “I hope to see you all in the library before I go, but if not, thank you for being amazing!”
