Industry Pays Tribute to a Broadcasting Legend With Special Recognition
The late Sam Rubin, a longtime and beloved entertainment reporter and founding Broadcast Film Critics Association member, was honored at the 30th Critics Choice Awards with a heartfelt photo tribute this weekend.
Rubin, a resident of Brentwood who spent more than three decades as an entertainment anchor for the KTLA Morning News, was recognized at the February 7 ceremony with a display featuring his image as guests arrived. He played a key role in establishing the Critics Choice Awards, which celebrate achievements in film and television.
In addition to the Critics Choice tribute, Rubin will receive a posthumous Lifetime Achievement Award at the upcoming Golden Mike Awards, organizers announced Monday.
Presented annually by the nonprofit Radio & Television News Association, the Golden Mike Awards recognize excellence in broadcast journalism across Southern California.
