Enjoy Engaging Storytime and an Interactive Musical Experience
The Donald Kaufman Brentwood Library is set to host two special children’s programs in the coming week, offering families an opportunity to engage with literature through storytelling and music.
On Saturday, Feb. 22, at 11 a.m., the library will present “Children’s Stories From Rumi,” a storytime event featuring author Omid Arabian. Arabian will share tales from his children’s books, The Heart’s Garden, You Are Everything, and The Donkey’s Gone, which introduce young audiences to the works of the Persian poet Rumi. Illustrator Shilla Shakoori will also be in attendance to discuss the artwork featured in the books. The program is recommended for children ages 4 and older.
On Monday, Feb. 24, at 4 p.m., families are invited to attend “Literature Made Musical With Kira Rappaport.” The interactive event is designed for children who enjoy movement-based storytelling. Rappaport, an early childhood music educator with a master’s degree, will use songs, dance, and instruments—including the guitar and flute—to bring stories to life. The program is tailored for young children but is open to all ages.
In addition to these special events, the library will continue its regular programming, including Wednesday morning storytime at 10:30 a.m. and Brick Building Playtime on Thursdays at 3 p.m.
