LAFD Paramedics Used a Helicopter Hoist to Rescue From Mandeville Canyon Park
An 80-year-old hiker was airlifted to safety Tuesday after becoming too exhausted to continue on a remote section of the Westridge Spur Trail in Mandeville Canyon Park, Los Angeles fire officials said.
The Los Angeles Fire Department dispatched both ground crews and two helicopters to the Brentwood-area trail. A paramedic was lowered from one of the aircraft to evaluate the man, who declined transport to a hospital.
Fire officials said the hiker and the paramedic were then hoisted into the hovering helicopter and flown to Will Rogers State Historic Park, where he was released in stable condition.
The LAFD emphasized that all safety protocols were followed during the operation.
