Gaucho Grill Brentwood – What a Pleasant Surprise

Gaucho Grill — What a Pleasant Surprise!

I had been to Gaucho Grill once close to 20 years ago. It was very
fine, I’m sure, but for whatever reason, I never had cause to go back.

I got invited to go to Gaucho Grill a week or so ago, and my wife and I
were thrilled. Either my early memories were fuzzy — quite possible
— or the place has really improved over time.

If there’s anyone else out there who hasn’t been to Gaucho Grill in a
while — or if you’ve never gone — I wholeheartedly suggest it’s time
to go.

As the name implies, the place is Argentinian (though our waitress
was from Spain).

The place is smallish, dark — romantic, even — a far cry from the
big, loud, crowded places we all frequent in Los Angeles.

This is carnivore heaven. The steaks are amazing, and ours came with
mashed potatoes (what could be better?), vegetables and grilled onions.
My wife was thrilled with her dark, red wine that accompanied her
dinner.

Since we didn’t know the menu, we asked our server for lots of advice,
and she was very helpful in steering us in all the right directions.
We even had dessert — unusual for us — and our apple crepe and “lava –
chocolate” concoction were completely delightful.

I’m in a commuter marriage; my wife lives in the San Francisco Bay
Area. She’s already asking if next time she returns we can go to
Gaucho Grill.

We loved our steaks, but we noticed there were some terrific-looking
chicken dishes as well. We kept sneaking peeks at what other people
around the room were eating. There is much to look forward to in the
months and years ahead. I can’t imagine getting tired of this place
any time soon.
