The Brentwood Hills Are Alive

It was a beautiful day filled with various activities. Immediately prior to the meeting and party, representatives from the DWP agreed to lead an easy hike into the currently closed Sullivan canyon for interested residents. It was an informative hike that also introduced some residents who had never been into the canyon to a new experience, which they will repeat on their own when the canyon reopens after repairs are completed.

We also arranged for a face painter and balloon sculpture person to attend our annual event to entertain the kids in attendance. The kids really enjoyed these activities, and everyone was impressed by the amazing balloon sculptures.
Other activities included having a fire truck parked in front of the house. Kids and adults enjoyed crawling around the truck supervised by a LAFD crew from our station #19. There were speeches given by the LAFD brigade captain, the LAFD CERT organizer, as well as LAPD senior lead officer, Philip Enbody. They all discussed important issues, including disaster preparedness.

Eric Edmunds, our president, also spoke, as did board member Jerry Adomian, who addressed the need for volunteer block captains, reminders regarding no smoking in our hills (please inform your service personnel), and cleaning up after your pets.

We were very pleased that Councilman Bill Rosendahl and Mike Feuer were able to make time to attend our meeting. They informed us of their recent activities affecting our area, and answered many questions from homeowners. It was nice to have such interaction with our local politicians.
We look forward to next year’s annual meeting and party. Notices will be delivered. We are trying to get an editor for mailing timely newsletters concerning our residents and items impacting us.

A Reminder for all in Brentwood Hills and Mandeville Canyon: Please continue to be a responsible citizen. Remember, that there is no smoking in Brentwood Hills or Mandeville canyon. Also, please pick up after your dog whether you are walking in the neighborhood or on our trails at the north end of Westridge. Be careful of the bikers on Mandeville. Give them lots of room when passing. If they don’t know that you are trying to pass, give a polite toot with the horn. Most will move over. Bikers, please ride single file when a car is trying to pass and pay attention to “STOP SIGNS†as the rules of the road apply to all of us.
