Backroom Redistricting Guarantees Henry Waxman as Big Time Winner
Behind closed doors in Washington, D.C. Congressional Democratic power brokers succeeded in revamping the citizens’ committee’s newly revamped congressional districts. Big winner was Henry Waxman who has represented the Westside since 1975. He will now run for the 33rd District which includes Brentwood, his hometown of Beverly Hills and winds south along the coastline from Malibu to Palos Verdes.

Brentwood School’s Rookie Basketball Coach Has the
Alpha League Guessing
Ryan Bailey, a former UCLA Bruin basketball star and a longtime assistant to Loyola Coach Jamal Adams, has the Brentwood School basketball team winning big time and the other Alpha League teams are worried about their fast start with nine victories. Before the season really gets underway, Brentwood is preparing to contend for the Southern 4A Championship. Bailey is grooming two promising players, 6’6†junior, Leland King and 6’1†Tra Holder, both of whom are having break-out seasons.

This is the 50th Anniversary of the Bel Air-Brentwood Fire Which Destroyed 500 Homes
In 1961, one of the state’s worst home fires caused $500 million in damages and leveled 500 estates in what became known as the Bel Air-Brentwood fire. Among the homeowners who suffered devastating damages was Zsa Zsa Gabor. Fire fighters Eugene Hopkins, 92, and Bill Stephens, 77, were among those who gathered in February to mark the tragedy.

Brentwood Neighbors Shocked by Rumors that Arnold May Have Been Excused by “His Mariaâ€
Most people were cheering for Maria Schriver when she left Brentwood’s Arnold Schwarzenegger for his latest and greatest of many sex offenses… but now they are just confused since the rumors that Maria may have excused him. When Schwarzenegger defeated Brentwood’s Ariana Huffington in the race for Governor in 2003, little did she expect that he would be a huge political flop while she went on to make a huge success of the Huffington Post. On Christmas Eve, a disheveled Arnold showed up alone at Saint Monica’s Church and stood at the back amid a record crowd of parishioners who came to hear Monsignor Lloyd Torgerson celebrate the birth of Christ.

In last month’s “Eye on Brentwood,†it was stated that Kevin Czinger, CEO of CODA, an electric car manufacturer, lived in Brentwood and biked to work daily in Santa Monica. Mr. Czinger resigned from CODA in late 2010. A new CEO, GM veteran Phil Murtaugh, was just named. We regret the error.
