Billionaire Orthopedic Surgeon Buys $23.9 Million Brentwood Mansion

Dr. Gary Michelso purchase Mandeville Canyon property

By Dolores Quintana

A billionaire orthopedic surgeon has bought a $23.9 million Brentwood mansion

Dr. Gary Michelson has purchased the newly built mansion after living in Mandeville Canyon for 20 years. He and his wife Alya, who was born in Russia, have decided to finally find a new home and bought this “part resort, part home” built by the luxury development firm ANR Signature Collection who has previously sold homes to celebrities like Cameron Diaz, musician Drew Taggart, of The Chainsmokers, cryptocurrency entrepreneur Jesse Powell and Kylie Jenner and Travis Scott. It’s really not that far away from their current home as it sits about a mile away.

The home is boxy and contemporary with slightly over 12,000 square feet of space including a three bedroom guest house and was built in collaboration with Matastudio. The home has five bedrooms each with their own bathroom ensuite.

The mansion is considered “light and airy” according to the listing due to glass walls and an open plan interior space. It comes with a double sided fireplace built into a concrete wall that splits the dining room from the formal living room, a den with another fireplace, built-in book cabinets, the main kitchen with quartz countertops and an “eat in” countertop. It comes with two other “prep” kitchens and another kitchen outdoors for parties.

The main bedroom comes with it’s own fireplace in an attached sitting room as well. There is an all stone bathroom with a tub and views of the oak and sycamore trees, proud century old arboreal marvels. It has its own soundproof screening room with electronic curtains and a gym.

The outdoor area has a Cantera stone patio with zero edge pool and spa. The entire property is off the main road and on a private drive so the mansion is secluded and private. It comes with a “security office”, main and staff parking garages and Savant audio/visual security system that is said to be top of the line.
