Brentwood Beat: Welcome, McCarthy Pharmacy

Brentwood: We have a new neighbor.

McCarthy Pharmacy, well-known in Santa Monica for 20 years, just moved to Brentwood.

McCarthy Pharmacy occupies the space where Pharmaca was up until recently, right next to Vicente Foods.

McCarthy Pharmacy used to be located at Ocean Park and Lincoln in Santa Monica, but that block was recently rezoned to accommodate a big housing project.

McCarthy Pharmacy needed a new home, and Bob Inadomi, General Manager of Vicente Foods, extended an invitation to McCarthy to move in.

Pharmacist Mordechai Nikfar and his wife, Honey, co-own and operate the business.  They live in 90049.

McCarthy Pharmacy prides itself on its old-fashioned values and exceptional customer service.

McCarthy has a very loyal customer base, according to the Nikfars, with most of McCarthy’s current clientele traveling from Santa Monica to Brentwood.

“Check us out on Google or Yelp,” said Honey Nikfar.  “You’ll see that people like us.”

According to the Nikfars, McCarthy’s prices are low and the pharmacy caters to older clients who need help managing their prescriptions and any paperwork required.

The pharmacy happily sends refill reminders via text, email – or even phone call. The pharmacy also delivers, using its own drivers, the Post Office and FedEx.

When asked why McCarthy could make it in this location when Pharmaca could not, the Nikfars said Pharmaca is part of a bigger chain – and that chains simply can’t offer the same level of service as a small mom-and-pop shop (literally, in this case).

“Come in and try us. You’ll see,” said Dr. Nikfar.

In order to gain a following in Brentwood, McCarthy is offering 10% off on all non-prescription items on Tuesdays.
