Brentwood Community Comes Together to Clean Up San Vicente Boulevard

Local Volunteers Join Forces to Beautify Brentwood’s Beloved Thoroughfare

By Dolores Quintana

In a display of neighborly camaraderie and community pride, a dedicated group of local residents and friends joined forces to tackle the cleanup of San Vicente Boulevard earlier in August. The efforts did not go unnoticed, with local merchants expressing their delight at the initiative.

Vicente Foods, the cherished neighborhood grocery store, extended a warm gesture by providing refreshing chilled water bottles to all the volunteers. The feeling of unity and shared purpose was palpable as participants rolled up their sleeves to give their beloved boulevard a much-needed facelift.

Upon the successful completion of their cleaning mission, Whole Foods, another establishment, stepped in to show their appreciation. The volunteers were treated to a spread of delectable snacks, undoubtedly a well-deserved reward for their hard work and dedication.

The cleanup operation revealed a variety of litter items that had accumulated on the sidewalks and in the gutters. From stray straw wrappers to discarded coffee cups, water bottles, valet parking tickets, dental picks, and cigarette butts, the assortment of debris served as a stark reminder of the importance of proper disposal.

The message resonating from this act of community service is simple yet powerful: if we all take responsibility for disposing of our trash in the appropriate bins or carry it until we find a suitable disposal point, we can collectively enjoy a cleaner and more beautiful world and alleviate the burden on volunteer groups and allow them to enjoy a peaceful morning coffee break.

This clean-up was organized in collaboration with Volunteers Cleaning Communities, a local initiative committed to maintaining the cleanliness of public spaces. At the helm of this collective effort was Gina Greblo, a compassionate citizen who may not call Brentwood home but is dedicated to the cause of making the city a cleaner, more beautiful place for all.
