Officials Seek Public Input on Removing Aging Newspaper Boxes
Local community groups in Brentwood have been asked, as part of the San Vicente Walkability Project, about how they feel about the newspaper boxes on the street to find out if any changes need to be made.
The news boxes, many of which have been in place for decades, have become rusted and old. The South Brentwood Residents Association has asked if they can be removed. Some of the boxes are still rented by organizations distributing magazines and newspapers, while others have been repurposed as community lending libraries.
The local City Council office is in contact with those managing the lending libraries to determine their future.
Residents who wish to share their opinions on the removal of the news boxes can email info@southbrentwood.org. SBRA will compile feedback and forward it to the City Council office and Streets LA for consideration.
