BRENTWOOD CRIME UPDATE August 2009
Crime in Brentwood continues to go down to -19% . Violent crime is down 56% which includes robbery, homicide, rape, and assaults with a deadly weapon. Property crime is down 16% which includes burglary, theft, burglary from motor vehicle, and grand theft auto.

The below listed crimes, are grouped by type, street and listed by hundred blocks, not by exact addresses.

Robbery (definition: Someone takes your property from you by force or fear)
LOCATION: 11600 Montana Ave Suspect took victims wallet, I-phone, and keys by using a handgun.
Prevention: be aware of your surroundings don�t carry large sums of money, and never display your money or jewelry in public.

Burglary (definition: Someone enters a dwelling and removes your property without your permission)
6 Residences were broken into. 4 had their window or doors smashed, kicked, or pried, and 2 had left their doors and windows open. Items taken were DVD, cash, tools, game console, security system, and cash register.
1 were construction site.
LOCATIONS: 200 S. Burlingame Ave. 200 S. Barrington Ave., 2200 Jeffersonia Way, 11700 San Vicente Blvd, 11900 Kiowa Ave, and 12300 3rd Helena Dr..
Prevention: Always lock your home or business and set your alarm.

Grand Theft Auto (definition: Someone takes your vehicle without your permission)
3 vehicles were taken.
800 Hanley Ave, 900 S. Barrington Ave. and 12200 Tweed Ln.
Prevention: Lock your vehicle, and set your alarm

Burglary/Theft from Motor Vehicles (definition: Someone enters your vehicle without permission)
10 vehicles were broken into last month. 1 cut top, 2 were unlocked, and 7 had their windows smashed. Property taken from the vehicles were IPOD�s, Laptops, GPS, wallet, bag, electronics, jewelry, sunglasses, keys, and articulator.
LOCATIONS: 100 Granville Ave, 1100 S. Wellesley Ave, 11600 Mayfield Ave, 11600 Chenault St, 11800 Gorham Ave, 11700 Mulholland Hwy, 11800 Darlington Ave, and 12000 Wilshire Blvd.,
Prevention: Do not leave anything inside your vehicle, always lock and set your vehicles alarm

Battery / Aggravated Assault (definition: Someone strikes you)
None
Prevention: Avoid verbal confrontations, they lead to physical confrontations

Theft (definition: Someone takes your property without your permission)
11 Crimes occurred where Cash, Bicycle, Wallet, Painting, and cab fare were taken
LOCATIONS: 2300 Westridge Rd, 2400 Mandeville Canyon Road, 11400 Chenault St, 11600 Wilshire Blvd, 11600 Mayfield Ave, 11600 Goshen Ave, 11700 Sunset Blvd, 11700 Wilshire Blvd, 11800 Kiowa Ave, and 12000 Wilshire Blvd .
Prevention: Secure all unattended property.
