Westside boutique couture drycleaner, Brentwood Royal, has completely eliminated their use of single use packaging for The Green Garmento reusable bags.
Owner Bobby Smerling said he made the change on Jan. 2 this year.
“It’s been amazing,” Smerling said. “In just eight weeks we’ve saved over 3,000 pounds of paper and plastic.”
Smerling, who services network and studio chiefs, movie and TV stars, and many of Los Angeles’ most distinguished families, is surprised by how much his customers have welcomed this change.
“I never expected to hear just how glad my clients were that they no longer had to deal with all that plastic,” he said.
This change from single-use to reusable dry cleaning packaging, now commonplace in groceries and retailers, is catching on all over the world.
Green Garmento president Jennie Nigrosh said her company’s revenues rose by more than 60 percent in 2013.
“We service dry cleaning professionals in 22 countries, from the Cayman Islands to Iceland; Singapore to South Africa,” Nigrosh said.
Brentwood Royal is located near the intersection of San Vicente Boulevard and 26th Street. For more information, visit royalcleaner.com.
