Brentwood Green Community Play Space Returns for Brentwood and Palisades Residents

Westside Families Invited Back to Brentwood Green After Hiatus

After several months of closure, Brentwood Green at Brentwood Science Magnet School is reopening as a weekend community play space for Westside residents, including those displaced by the recent Palisades Fire.

Thanks to the support of the CD11 Foundation and the collaborative efforts of Brentwood Green, the Brentwood Community Council, and Los Angeles Council District 11, the school grounds at Brentwood Science Magnet, located on Gretna Green Way between Montana Avenue and San Vicente Boulevard, will be open to the public on select Saturdays and every Sunday from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., starting on on Saturday, March 29.

The upcoming Saturday openings are scheduled for April 26, May 3, May 17, May 24, and May 31. Sundays will be open continuously during this same period.

The temporary reopening offers a much-needed recreational outlet for families affected by fire damage to local parks in the Palisades area.

“With the Palisades parks damaged from the Palisades Fire, it is critical that interim public space be made available to Westside residents,” said The Brentwood Community Council in a statement. “We hope this space becomes the Palisades’ home away from home, and Brentwood is excited to share this special location with you.”

City and education officials also helped make the reopening possible. Organizers extended thanks to LAUSD Board Member Nick Melvoin, Senior Advisor Allison Holdorff Polhill, Brentwood Science Magnet School Principal Reginald Brunson, and Los Angeles City Councilmember Traci Park for their roles in the initiative
