Weekly Storytimes Return and Special Guests Highlight a Packed Calendar
The Donald Bruce Kaufman Brentwood Library has introduced Althea Martinez as its new children’s librarian, who shared updates about the library’s 2025 schedule in a recent email to the community.
“Hello Brentwood families! My name is Althea, and I am so happy to be your new children’s librarian,” Martinez wrote. “Before coming to Brentwood, I worked at the neighboring Westwood branch of the Los Angeles Public Library, so you may have already seen me there at a storytime or other children’s program.”
Martinez expressed enthusiasm about connecting with local families, learning about their interests, and curating programs and activities tailored to their needs.
The library’s updated schedule for 2025 includes the continuation of popular programs such as Brick-Building Playtime on Thursdays, STAR reader sessions on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, and Caregiver and Kid Language Learning on Tuesdays.
In addition, the library will host special guests Omid Arabian, an author, and Shilla Shakoori, an illustrator, on January 18. The duo will present stories and artwork inspired by the poet Rumi.
A highlight of the upcoming schedule is the return of weekly storytimes, set to resume on Wednesday, January 22.
