As Elon Musk’s pet project The Boring Co. begins to make progress on L.A.’s Westside, Brentwood citizens are speaking out against the project.
Musk’s dream to create a series of underground tunnels through L.A. could interfere with the daily life of Brentwood and Westside residents. Originally begun as a smaller project, new plans have come out showing a much larger expansion ripping through most of L.A., from South Los Angeles to the Getty. According to Musk, The Boring Co. will be able to offer L.A. citizens free rides in a couple of months once the first tunnels are completed.
However, Brentwood Residents Coalition and the Sunset Coalition are suing the city due to their justification for allowing Musk to create his tunnels via an exemption for an environmental review, which has sped along the process. While the boring should take place too deep underground to cause noise complaints, Brentwood citizens are concerned about how the project will affect traffic on the 405.
