Brentwood Weekly Crime Report: July 27, 2025 – August 2, 2025

Brentwood experienced a noticeable increase in major crimes during the week of July 27 to August 2, 2025, according to Senior Lead Officer Matthew Kirk’s latest crime update.

This week’s report indicates a notable increase in burglaries, motor vehicle break-ins, and thefts. Police urge residents to remain vigilant, lock their doors and vehicles, and report any suspicious activity to the LAPD immediately.

Assault with a Deadly Weapon (ADW)

  • No incidents reported this week.

Burglaries

  • July 27, 2:55 p.m. – 11300 Block of Berwick Street
    A suspect shattered a rear glass door to gain entry to a home. The residence was ransacked, though it remains unclear whether any property was stolen at the time of the report.
  • August 2, 2:00 p.m. – 100 Block of Gunston Drive
    One or more suspects broke the rear glass door of a home and searched the master bedroom. Jewelry was reported stolen.

Burglary/Theft from Motor Vehicle (BFMV/TFMV)

  • July 29, 4:30 p.m. – 900 Block of South Westgate Avenue
    Clothing was stolen from an unlocked vehicle.
  • July 29, 10:30 p.m. – 11800 Block of Darlington Avenue
    Suspects smashed a side window and stole a laptop, headphones, and a backpack.
  • July 31, 2:45 a.m. – 700 Block of North Hanley Avenue
    A golf bag was taken from a vehicle by unknown means.

Grand Theft Auto (GTA)

  • July 28, 8:00 p.m. – Amherst Avenue and Rochester Avenue
    A Ford Econoline van was stolen from the street.
  • July 30, 5:00 p.m. – 12300 Block of Montana Avenue
    An electric bicycle was stolen from the parking garage of an apartment complex.

Theft

  • July 28, 2:40 p.m. – 11900 Block of Dorothy Street
    A suspect stole a package directly from a UPS truck.
  • July 31, 9:40 a.m. – 11600 Block of Chenault Street
    The property was taken from an apartment parking garage after the suspects gained access. The items were unsecured.
  • August 1, 5:00 p.m. – 11400 Block of West Burnham Street
    Jewelry was stolen from a residence. The victim suspects an employee was responsible.
