SLO Kirk Resumes Reports with Roundup of Brentwood Crimes
In the first Brentwood crime report released since Senior Lead Officer Kirk’s temporary reassignment to protest duty downtown, highlights recent burglaries, an assault with a deadly weapon, and multiple vehicle break-ins in the area.
Two separate residential burglaries occurred, including a hot prowl incident where a suspect was confronted by a resident. In the most serious case, a man violently attacked another man in a parking lot.
Burglary:
06-08-25 14:30 Hrs, 11900 Block of Dorothy St, Susp(s) entered apartment through dog door and ransacked location. The property taken was jewelry, handbags, and U.S. currency.
(Hot Prowl) 06-12-25 23:00 Hrs, 11900 Dorothy St, Suspect entered unlocked side window into apartment and was confronted by the resident, who pushed the suspect outside. The suspect then fled the location on foot. No property taken.

ADW (Assault With Deadly Weapon)
06-11-25 10:20 Hrs, 12000 Block of Goshen Ave (Ralphs parking lot), the victim was seated inside his vehicle waiting to pick up a delivery from the store. The suspect and his girlfriend pulled up and parked next to the victim. The victim briefly looked over at the suspect’s girlfriend, which upset the suspect, who exited the car and punched the victim numerous times.
The suspect then retrieved a knife and stabbed the victim in the face and neck. Officers responded and took the suspect into custody. The victim was released from the hospital. The suspect was charged with attempted murder. The suspect’s girlfriend stated that the suspect suffers from mental illness.
