09-21-24 0645 Hrs, 11600 Block of Wilshire Blvd, the suspect smashed the front door to the business with a rock and removed U.S. currency from the register.

09-21-24 1700 Hrs / 09-22-24 0300 Hrs, 900 Block of Westgate Ave, Suspect (s) smashed front window entered location, and removed jewelry.

*If you have any ladders on your property please secure them in a locked garage, or storage shed, or secure them with a chain to prevent suspects from gaining access to the second story. Most suspects expect the second story of a home to not be alarmed like the first floor*

Suspects sometimes pose as gardeners but have their faces completely covered and pretend to be using equipment so as to not raise suspicion when on private property. Remember to always lock your doors and windows when you leave your home. If you have an alarm please use it and if you have security cameras, make sure they are working, and the footage can be accessed.

If possible lock access to the electrical panel to prevent power from being shut off without your knowledge. Some suspects also use WiFi jammers that will disrupt WiFi service and will make WiFi cameras inoperable during the commission of the burglary. Hard-wired security camera systems are not affected by these WiFi jammers.

Robbery: None reported

ADW (Assault With Deadly Weapon): None reported

BFMV (Burglary from motor vehicle)/ TFMV (Theft from Motor Vehicle)

09-20-24 1320 Hrs, 11900 Block of Wilshire Blvd, Suspect (s) smashed the driver’s side window and removed electronic equipment from the vehicle. The vehicle was parked in the parking garage.

09-21-24 0125 Hrs, 11700 Block of West Sunset Blvd, suspect (s) removed property from locked vehicle by unknown means, The Property taken was an iPad. The vehicle was parked in the driveway.

09-23-24 2200 Hrs / 09-24-24 0945 Hrs, 11700 Block of West Sunset Blvd, Suspect (s) smashed the side passenger window and removed a backpack from the front seat of the vehicle.

Remember DO NOT leave key fobs in your vehicle. Most new cars will not allow you to lock your car with the key fob inside. Also, please don’t leave valuables inside your vehicle, especially if they are visible from outside the vehicle. Even if the car is parked in a secure parking garage does not make it immune from being broken into.

GTA (Grand Theft Auto

09-18-24 2100 Hrs / 09-19-24 0730 Hrs, 12100 Block of Danoon Lane, a 2019 Hyundai Elantra was removed from the street.

09-21-24 2000 Hrs / 09-22-24 1000 Hrs, 3000 Block of Corda Dr, a 2019 Hyundai Sonata was taken from the street.

Please don’t leave your car unlocked and most importantly NEVER leave your keys in the car. This makes it way too easy for thieves and they will continue to target the area if the opportunities are readily available.

If you own a 2010-2021 Kia or Hyundai be aware that the ignition can be easily defeated and the method has been posted on social media which has made the rate of these vehicles being stolen skyrocket.

If you own one of these vehicles I would recommend a steering wheel lock and/or an ignition immobilizer to make it more difficult to steal.

Theft:

09-15-24 0700 Hrs / 09-23-24 1910 Hrs, 12200 Block of Octagon Street, suspects(s) removed the ring from nightstand. The victim believes it was that possible workers removed the ring during a service call.

09-21-24 2455 Hrs / 09-22-24 1445 Hrs, 11700 Block of San Vicente blvd, Victim placed an Amazon order for two laptop computers that were delivered to the store. Once the boxes were opened, they had no computers inside.

09-22-24 0400 Hrs / 09-24-24 1435 Hrs, 16000 Block of Mullholland Drive.

The suspect(s) removed the copper wire from the Verizon building.

SLO Officer Kirk wants to remind everyone that if some calls or e-mails state that you need to send money or gift cards most likely it’s a scam. If they say they are from a reputable company contact the company with a phone number that you acquired and check that way.

Sometimes these suspects can be very convincing but never just hand over money, gift cards, or any personal information. If you are going to sell an item on the internet and meet in person make sure you have someone else with you and make the transaction in a public location.

Many people meet in front of the police station to make the transaction and advise the buyer of the location before the meeting. Also, when you are shopping please keep your purse on your person and not left in the shopping cart.

Thieves will many times work in pairs to distract the victim while the other suspect takes the purse. If you feel it is necessary to keep your purse in the shopping cart have it zipped up and place it in the bottom.
