The Brentwood Westwood Symphony Orchestra’s second concert of the 2013-2014 season will be Sunday, Feb. 2, 2014 at the University Synagogue, 11960 Sunset Blvd. (1 1/2 blocks north of Bundy) Los Angeles (Brentwood), CA 90049.
The concert, Hungarian Rhapsody, will feature some of the most popular and soulful works of the culture: Brahms, Liszt, Bartok and Grieg.
This date is also founder and conductor Maestro Alvin Mills’ birthday. All are welcome to a special reception following the concert to celebrate the Maestro’s 61st season conducting his orchestra.
Concert begins at 3 pm and the reception will begin at approximately 5:15 pm. The concert is free and early arrival for the best free parking is advised.
Maestro Alvin Mills is up for a Guinness World Records Award as the Longest Standing Founder and Conductor of a Community Orchestra in the World.
He founded and has led the Brentwood Westwood Symphony Orchestra in offering quality free concerts in Los Angeles for over 61 years. He will be conducting his original composition, “Spanish Rhapsody” during the 2nd half of the program and celebrating his 92nd birthday the same day.
