Brentwood’s Archer School for Girls’ InvenTeam won the Sustainability Award at EurekaFest, a multi-day celebration of inventions and inventors presented by the Lemelson-MIT Program at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and the Museum of Science in Boston last month.
The Upper School girls won with their water conservation invention, which they spent a year working on after winning a grant to develop their adjustable faucet aerator.
With students Alex Feldman ‘17 and Anabelle Robertson ‘18 passing the Solidworks sustainability certification test and a project focused on water use reduction, Archer’s team was selected for the award from the 14 InvenTeams.The students spent the next two days showcasing and presenting their prototype to peers, teachers, and EurekaFest attendees.
On the second day of the event, the team participated in hands-on learning activities at the Museum of Science in Boston. Two members of Archer’s InvenTeam, Iman Mohammed ‘18 and Isabelle Wilson ‘17, received awards in a design challenge to build a wind-powered device.
