Burglar Uses Previously Stolen Key Fob to Break Into Brentwood Residents’ Cars

Among recent Brentwood crimes include a burglar who used a previously stolen key fob to break into a car and take a laptop and wallet among other items.

Burglary: 

12-20-20 1300 Hrs/ 12-22-20 1400 Hrs, 200 Block of Kenter Ave, Susp(s) pried off locked for side gate to the yard and gained access to residence through prying open the side window. Susp(s) took property and fled residence through rear slider. Property taken was a laptop computer.

12-21-20 1200 Hrs/ 01-02-21 1300 Hrs, 900 Block of Amherst Ave, Susp(s) entered residence by unknown means and removed property. Property taken was misc jewelry and U.S. currency.

12-17-20 1500 Hrs/ 12-24-20 1300 Hrs, 800 Block of Westgate Ave, Susp(s) entered apartment storage room by unknown means and removed property. Property taken was misc tools.

12-30-20 1900 Hrs/ 12-31-20 1000 Hrs, 700 Block of Westgate Ave, Susp(s) pried open apartment lobby door and then entered parking garage area. Once inside the parking garage the Susp(s) pried open the storage locker but no property was taken. 

01-01-21 0800 Hrs/ 01-03-21 2000 Hrs, 11700 Block of Darlington Ave, Susp(s) pried open front door to apartment and the ransacked loc. Susp(s) removed property and fled loc. Property taken was (2) purses.

01-02-21 1500 Hrs/ 01-02-21 1900 Hrs, 400 Block of N. Bundy Drive, Susp(s) pried open front door and ransacked office area. Susp(s) removed property and fled loc. Property taken was a knife and statue.

01-02-21 1725 Hrs, 12500 Block of Vista, Susp(s) pried open front door of loc and ransacked residence and fled loc. No property taken.

Robbery:

None Reported

ADW (Assault With Deadly Weapon): 

12-24-20 1430 Hrs, 400 Block of Barrington Ave, Susp(s) approached vict as he was waiting for bus and began yelling at vict. Susp then picked up a piece of asphalt and threw it at the victim striking him in the bicep area. Susp then fled location. 

BFMV (Burglary from motor vehicle):

12-22-20 2020/ 12-29-20 0930 Hrs, 11700 Block of Sunset Blvd, Susp entered building garage by driving in behind resident. Once inside the garage the Susp used key fob stolen on previous theft and entered the victim’s car and removed property. Susp also took additional key fob from car and used it to unlock the victim’s partners car. Susp then smashed passenger window of a third vehicle and removed property. Property taken was a laptop, sporting goods, wallet, sunglasses and a remote.

12-25-20 1630 Hrs/ 12-26-20 0930 Hrs, 300 Block of S. Westgate Ave, Susp(s) entered unlocked veh and removed property fled loc. Property taken was a rifle and two handguns.

12-29-20 2000 Hrs/ 12-30-20 0915 Hrs, 700 Block of Barrington Ave, Susp(s) used unk hard object to smash passenger window and removed property. Property taken was tools.

12-30-20 1830 Hrs/ 12-31-20 0945 Hrs, 11600 Block of Goshen Ave, Susp(s) gained access to underground garage by unk means. Once inside Susp(s) entered unlocked veh and removed property. Property taken was credit card, U.S. currency and clothing.

12-30-20 2300 Hrs/ 12-31-20 1315 Hrs, 400 Block of Gretna Green Way, Susp(s) opened trunk by unknown means and removed property. Property taken was clothing.

12-31-20 0400 Hrs, 700 Block of Westgate Ave, Susp(s) pried open electric security call box to access lobby which allowed Susp(s) to gain entry into garage. Once inside the garage the Susp(s) entered UNLOCKED veh and removed property. Property taken a air compressor and misc paperwork.

01-02-21 0300 Hrs- 0330 Hrs, 100 Block of Granville Ave, Susp(s) used flashlight to break drivers side window and remove property. Property taken was a backpack and clothing.   

GTA (Grand Theft Auto):

12-24-20 1700 Hrs/ 12-25-20 0600 Hrs, 1700 Block of Montana Ave, Veh taken was a 2019 BMW 330 I from parking garage.

12-25-20 2115 Hrs, 12000 Block of Wilshire Blvd, Veh taken was a 2007 Honda Accord from the street.

12-31-20 0455 Hrs, 200 Block of Kenter Ave, Veh taken was a 2000 Volvo from driveway.

01-02-21 1900 Hrs/ 01-03-21 0900 Hrs, 11800 Block of Goshen Ave, Veh taken was a 2019 Honda Van from parking garage. 

Theft: 

12-25-20 0345 Hrs, 12000 Block of Goshen Ave, Susp(s) used a possible mail key to access building mail boxes and removed mail. 

12-25-20 1610 Hrs- 1620 Hrs, 12000 Block of Wilshire Blvd (CVS), Susp entered business and removed property and fled loc without attempting to pay. Property taken was alcohol.

12-28-20 2100 Hrs, 12000 Block of Wilshire Blvd (CVS), Susp entered business and removed property and fled loc without attempting to pay. Property taken was clothing and a cellphone.

01-01-21 0600 Hrs, 900 Block of Granville Ave, Susp(s) entered secure garage by climbing over pedestrian gate and cut lock off the bike secured and fled on bicycle.
