Proof of Residency May Be Required To Pick Up Compost
By Staff Writer
In celebration of Earth Day on April 22nd, the City of Brentwood is providing approximately 100 cubic yards of compost, free of charge, to city residents. The compost will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis while supplies last.
The self-serving compost station, which requires residents to bring their own shovel and container, is located at the Recycle Water Fill Station on 2251 Elkins Way. Residents are advised to follow the signs to the Recycled Water Fill Station and to pay attention to traffic signs as the road is one-way.
Proof of residency may be requested at the compost station, so residents are encouraged to bring a valid ID or utility bill to verify their address.
Composting is an excellent way to reduce waste, improve soil quality, and support a sustainable environment. Compost is a natural fertilizer that can be used to enrich soil in gardens, lawns, and other outdoor spaces.
For more information on the compost program or other environmental initiatives in the City of Brentwood, residents can contact the Public Works Department or visit the city’s website.
