BookEnds and Brentwood are working together on an unprecedented community-wide book drive to benefit children in Los Angeles who don’t have enough books to learn to read. BookEnds is a nonprofit organization that empowers children to recycle their children’s books to create libraries in Los Angeles classrooms.
Brentwood friends and families are invited to join BookEnds and CityYear volunteers on Sunday, May 20th from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the corner of San Vicente and Montana to help sort, box and celebrate. Bring your extra children’s books!
BookEnds will donate the books to City Year corps members to support their classroom tutorial program. Joining the effort will be students at Archer, Brentwood and Paul Revere Middle schools who are organizing BookEnds BookDrives at their schools.
Presented by First Republic Bank and supported by California Pizza Kitchen and Supervisor Zev Yaroslavosky, this is a great community-wide effort. Book collection bins are located in retailers along San Vicente (First Republic Bank, California Pizza Kitchen, Vicente Foods and Whole Foods), Brentwood Village, The Westside Family YMCA, Brentwood Presbyterian Church, Diesel Bookstore, Fire Station #19 and the Brentwood Public Library.
For those of you who don’t have children’s books to donate, BookEnds welcomes donations through its website:
