Events At The Donald Bruce Kaufman – Brentwood Branch Library For June

Exciting Musical And Reading Events Will Happen For The Entire Month

By Dolores Quintana

The Donald Bruce Kaufman – Brentwood Branch Library is gearing up for an exciting month of activities in June.

On Wednesday, June 7th, children are invited to attend a captivating storytime session at 10:30 a.m. This interactive event will transport young minds into the world of imagination and adventure. Parents and guardians are encouraged to bring their little ones to the library to discover the joy of reading.

Later that day, from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., the library will host STAR Reader Bonnie. This special program aims to improve children’s reading skills.

On Thursday, June 8th, the library will continue its commitment to promoting education through play. From 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., children are invited to participate in a brick-building playtime. This hands-on activity encourages creativity, problem-solving, and teamwork among participants. Children will have the opportunity to construct unique structures using colorful building blocks.

Following the brick building playtime, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., STAR Reader Camille will be leading the two-hour event.

Teens will have their own event on Saturday, June 10, 2023, with DJ 101 With DJ Hapa. They will be able to get hands-on instruction from world-renowned DJ and educator DJ Hapa, “The DJ Coach,” where participants will learn on a variety of DJ equipment and leave the workshop understanding the fundamental concepts of DJing, including but not limited to basic music theory, song structure, hot cues, and loops, Live remixing and more! This program was made possible with the generous support of the Library Foundation of Los Angeles.

On Monday, June 12th, at 3:00 p.m., the library will host a special Baby Music & Play session exclusively for babies 24 months and under. This event aims to stimulate the senses of the littlest ones through music and play, creating a fun and engaging environment for early learning.
Summer STEAM Craft will take place on June 13, 20, and 27. Learn something new and have fun at the library with our weekly Summer STEAM Craft! Each week, we will talk about a different topic within science, technology, engineering, and math and then do a craft or activity together related to that topic. This program is for kids ages 3-10 and their caregivers.
