Thomas Mann’s Brentwood and Pacific Palisades Homes For Rent
The former home of Nobel prize winning author Thomas Mann is available for rent for $15,000 a month. The Multiple Listing Service advertised it as located in Pacific Palisades, conversely the LA Times Mapping Service listed it as being located in Brentwood So, take your pick – let’s just say it’s on the Westside. Mann died in 1955 at the age of 80 in Zurich. He fled from Germany in 1930 and settled in Switzerland before moving to the U.S. His short story, “Disillusionment†was the basis for Peggy Lee’s recording of “Is That All There Is.â€

Six Advertisers Cancel Radio Ads with Right Wing’s Rush Limbaugh
Ninety-one thousand people, including some from Brentwood, have signed a petition with an activist group named “Ultra Violet†, urging advertiser, Pro Flowers, to cancel all their advertising with right wing radio commentator, Rush Limbaugh. He recently insulted Georgetown law student, Sandra Fluke, calling her a “slut†and a “prostitute†for advocating the use of health insurance plans set forth by President Obama. In addition to Pro Flowers, Limbaugh advertising has been suspended by Quicken Loans, Sleep Train, Number, Citrix Systems, Inc.
and Legal Zoom.

Brentwood Executive Now Holds Dual Titles As Chief Executive & Chairman of the Board
Brentwood’s Robert Iger, the current Chief Executive of the Walt Disney Company, now has the dual titles of Chief Executive and Chairman of the Board. This reversed a board of director’s mandate in year 2004 to keep the titles separate, supporting the late Robert Disney’s vote of no confidence in Michael Eisner who then held both titles. Now, Iger is in full command with both titles until he retires in 2015. Iger’s yearly salary was $31.4 million before he adopted the Chairman’s title.
