When Arnold Schwarzenegger first became Governor of California in 2003, he immediately jumped into bed with the auto dealers’ lobby. Almost his first act was to reduce the existing auto taxes by 60 %. Prior to that the state had been netting $6 billion a year. California’s financial disaster resulted from his reckless decision. To make up part of the Schwarzenegger deficit, programs to support community colleges and state universities, welfare, road building and care for the elderly have been cut back. The state still has a huge Schwarzenegger debt to cope with. The auto dealers were his biggest contributors when he won the governorship. His current tell-all book, “Total Recall†, should be called “Flawed Memory†, accordRichard Riordaning to Santa Monica based author, Thomas D. Elliott. Schwarzenegger lives in Brentwood and owns his own office building on Main Street in Ocean Park. He also flies into Santa Monica airport in a jet, continuing to annoy the airport’s neighbors who are troubled by the jet noises.

Broad Donates Nineteen Paintings to His Alma Mater, Michigan State University

Brentwood’s Eli Broad has donated 19 paintings from his art collection to his Alma Mater, Michigan State University. Eli and Edythe Broad donated $26 million to the University to build the art museum in 2007. The museum bears Eli’s name.

Ex-Mayor Gives Up His Bid To Replace Pensions with a 401K Employee Plan

Former Los Angeles Mayor, Richard Riordan, a Brentwood resident, has given up his plan to place a measure on the Los Angeles ballot, which would hThe Cyrus Cylinderave replaced pensions with a special 401K plan for new city employees. Riordan, a multi-millionaire, was financing the unsuccessful campaign.

Prized British Museum Art Collection Will Be On Display
at Malibu Getty Villa

The Cyrus Cylinder is a famous ancient Babylonian artifact and one of the British Museum’s most prized pieces. It will be on display at the Getty Villa Museum in Malibu from October 2 through December 2 in 2013. It comes from what is now southern Iraq and is thought to date from year 530 to 539 BC. It relates to the story of Cyrus, the King of Persia.
