California’s Financial Disaster Can Be Traced to Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Bad Judgment
When Arnold Schwarzenegger first became Governor of California in 2003, he immediately jumped into bed with the auto dealers’ lobby. Almost his first act was to reduce the existing auto taxes by 60 %. Prior to that the state had been netting $6 billion a year. California’s financial disaster resulted from his reckless decision. To make up part of the Schwarzenegger deficit, programs to support community colleges and state universities, welfare, road building and care for the elderly have been cut back. The state still has a huge Schwarzenegger debt to cope with. The auto dealers were his biggest contributors when he won the governorship. His current tell-all book, “Total Recall†, should be called “Flawed Memory†, according to Santa Monica based author, Thomas D. Elliott. Schwarzenegger lives in Brentwood and owns his own office building on Main Street in Ocean Park. He also flies into Santa Monica airport in a jet, continuing to annoy the airport’s neighbors who are troubled by the jet noises.
