Eye on Brentwood

Proud Brentwood Citizens might have been embarrassed recently when it was revealed one of their own, Andrew Breitbart, an ultra conservative right wing blogger, was correctly accused of falsely editing the interview which
triggered the unwarranted firing of black government worker, Shirley
Sherrod. A legitimate conservative columnist, David Klinghoffer, bashed Breitbart in a Times column headlined “Make Way for the Crazy-Cons.†He called Breitbart a “potty-mouth†and then went on to tear the Brentwood School alumnus apart. Widely respected columnist, Mitch Albom, did the same, writing that Breitbart was “where the sad story begins, where the blame
lies and where the punishment should be doled out.â€
Brentwood and Beverly Hills residents have lifespans of about 85, which is
2.6 years longer than the national average, according to the Department of
Public Health. On the negative side, Los Angeles county residents living in
poverty or in some minority areas, have a substantially lower life expectancy than their wealthier neighbors.

Brentwood lost one of its most successful citizens last month when Jon Douglas was buried at age 73 at a private service. Douglas founded the real estate firm bearing his name which was once one of the nation¹s largest and most successful. It was bought out by Coldwell Banker. Douglas was an all-CIF quarterback and tennis and basketball star at Santa Monica High School, the quarterback and an All-American tennis player at Stanford, and
he represented the U.S. in the Davis Cup competitions (1958, 1960 and 1961).

The Best of LA special section, which Los Angeles Magazine “borrowed†from the LA Weekly, nominated “Le Pooch Brentwood†as the best grooming salon and doggyday care center.

Hugh Hefner, the 83-year old Playboy entrepreneur, whose Holmby Hills mansion isn’t far from Brentwood, is becoming everyone’s favorite cover boy, with lengthy
stories about him and his girlfriends in Vanity Fair, LA Weekly and
others. We learned he uses Viagra for his frequent sexual encounters
and he is planning to take his ailing Playboy Enterprises private.
