Prime Pizza now open on Santa Monica Boulevard in West LA

One of Los Angeles’ most popular pizza spots has opened a location near Brentwood in West LA, described by a prominent pizza critic as the “number 1 pizza in LA I’ve had, hands down.”
Prime Pizza is now up and running at 12219 Santa Monica Boulevard, Tuesday to Saturday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., for takeout.
“We make our dough in house every day and let it rest overnight to develop the taste and structure it needs. We use Grande cheese from Wisconsin and shred it ourselves to get that perfect melt. Our sauce is made with local California tomatoes, salt and oregano. No fillers. No Gimmicks. Just pizza,” reads the restaurant’s website.
Prime Pizza entered the national spotlight recently when Barstool Sports’ Dave Portnoy gave the pizza an 8.1/10 rating, calling it the best pizza he has ever had in Los Angeles.
“This is my number 1 pizza in LA I’ve had, hands down,” Portnoy said.
The restaurant has three other locations in Little Tokyo, Burbank and Fairfax.
The restaurant, in a Facebook book post, described the process of opening the West Los Angeles locaiton.
“We feel incredibly lucky and grateful to be in a position to open a new store right now. So many have lost their restaurants during this pandemic through absolutely no fault of their own. For those that are still operating, the challenges have never been greater. The industry is facing a labor shortage crisis that has almost everyone short staffed. The people who are still working have been through hell this year. Everyone is emotionally drained. We have never opened a store being closed 2 days a week. We are very much a daily operation. But we have never experienced anything like this in 10 years and it is forcing us to be creative and adapt to the environment. We hope you understand, and we will be up and running at full capacity (with delivery!) as soon as humanly possible,” reads the post.
