LAFD Begins Partial Repopulation in Brentwood and West LA as Wildfire Evacuation Orders Ease

Residents in Brentwood, West LA Granted Reentry; Power Restoration Efforts Underway

Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) officials have announced partial repopulation efforts as wildfire evacuation orders ease in Brentwood, West Los Angeles, and mountain areas between West Los Angeles and the San Fernando Valley. Select zones are now open for resident-only access, while others have been downgraded from warning zones to normal.

Residents seeking reentry must adhere to proof-of-residency requirements and safety protocols outlined in earlier updates. Maps and additional details are available through city resources to assist residents in identifying their zones.

The following zones are now accessible to residents:

  • LOS-Q0762-A: North of Mulholland Dr., south of Alonzo Ave., east and west of Mulholland Dr., including Escalon Dr. and Encino Hills Dr.
  • LOS-Q0767-B: North of Arbutus Way, Mandeville Canyon Rd., and N Kenter Ave; south of Mulholland Dr. and Canyonback Rd.; east of Mandeville Canyon Rd.; west of Canyonback Rd.
  • LOS-Q0767-C: North of Woodacres Rd. and Pacific Coast Hwy; south of Mandeville Canyon Rd., Pesquera Dr., and Elkins Rd.; east of Casale Rd.; west of S Cliffwood Ave.
  • LOS-Q0782-C: North of Carrara Pl., Kenfield Ave., and N Kenter Ave; south and east of N Kenter Ave; west of Mount Saint Mary’s Fire Rd.

Certain zones previously under mandatory evacuation orders have been downgraded to warning status, including:

  • LOS-Q1118: North of Mission Canyon Rd.; south of Meadow Ridge Rd. and Hayvenhurst Ave.; east of Calneva Dr.; west of Sepulveda Blvd. and other surrounding streets.
  • LOS-Q0765: North of Standish and Mulholland Dr.; south of Adlon Rd.; east of Escalon Dr.; west of Hayvenhurst Ave.

Other zones in this category include LOS-Q0778-A, LOS-Q0798, LOS-Q0780, LOS-Q0781-A, LOS-Q0782-A, and LOS-Q0782-B.

The following zones have returned to normal status with no evacuation or warnings in effect:

  • LOS-Q0751: North of Ulmus Dr.; south, east, and west of Mulholland Dr.
  • LOS-Q0764: North of Louise Ave. and Adlon Rd.; south of Balboa Blvd.; east of Louise Ave.; west of Hayvenhurst Ave.
  • LOS-Q0772, LOS-Q0783, LOS-Q0800, LOS-Q1089, LOS-Q1119, and LOS-Q1163 are among other areas cleared of restrictions.

Additionally, the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power has restored power to approximately 4,400 LADWP customers in parts of Brentwood, Bel-Air, and Encino had their power restored as of Friday morning. LADWP crews were authorized to restore power in those select areas after Unified Command lifted the fire holds for public safety on the power lines serving those communities.

Brentwood is not subject to a Do Not Drink water notice from the LADWP.

As of 8:00 a.m. Friday, January 17, approximately 14,450 LADWP customers in the fire-damaged areas of Pacific Palisades and adjacent neighborhoods of Brentwood, Bel-Air, and Encino, remain without power. Fire holds on power lines are necessary to ensure the lines are safe before they are re-energized. LADWP cannot restore power to these lines serving our customers until authorized by Unified Command.

If you have returned home and see that a neighbor has their power restored but you do not, your home could be served by a different power line that remains on a fire hold for public safety reasons. Also, power lines in these neighborhoods often run north-south and through the hills, so adjacent areas where fire holds may have been lifted have power, while others nearby remain out.

For customers inquiring about whether their home is affected by the fire holds for public safety, please call LADWP’s customer service hotline at 1-800-DIAL-DWP (1-800-342-5397) and they will provide you with the most up-to-date information, as it becomes available from Unified Command and LADWP crews.

LADWP continues to remain in contact with Unified Command today on which additional power lines will be released from the fire holds. Once the fire holds are released, crews will begin restoration work for customers served by those particular power lines. This same process will continue until all affected lines that are on fire hold for safety review, are cleared for restoration.
