Emmy-Winner and Original Seinfeld Writer Will Sign His New Memoir
Acclaimed comedy writer and director Larry Charles will appear at Diesel: A Bookstore in Brentwood on Thursday, Sept. 4, to discuss and sign his new memoir Comedy Samurai: Forty Years of Blood, Guts, and Laughter. The free event begins at 6:30 p.m. in the store’s courtyard.
Seating will be available on a first-come basis, though guests may reserve a spot by purchasing a copy of the book here.
Charles, whose career spans more than four decades, has been behind some of the most influential projects in modern American comedy. He was part of the original writing and producing team for the first five seasons of Seinfeld, later executive-produced Curb Your Enthusiasm and Entourage, and served as showrunner for Mad About You. His directing credits include the films Borat, Bruno, The Dictator, and the documentary Religulous, as well as the Bob Dylan co-written film Masked and Anonymous.
In Comedy Samurai, Charles offers behind-the-scenes stories and sharp reflections from his time working alongside comedy and entertainment legends, including Jerry Seinfeld, Larry David, Sacha Baron Cohen, Bill Maher, Bob Dylan, Mel Brooks, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, and Nicolas Cage.
Charles, a Brooklyn native who rose from working-class roots, is a Peabody, Golden Globe, and Emmy Award winner. He continues to be recognized for shaping the comedic landscape through both television and film.
