Brentwood’s Joan Jackson will sign and discuss her book “Just in Time” at 6:30 p.m.
Local Brentwood author Joan Jackson will be at Diesel Books in Brentwood on Nov. 2 to sign and talk about her book, “Just in Time,” which discusses her experiences with mental illness and addiction in her family.
Jackson was raised in Ohio. After teaching French for a time, she went on to man- age a French-Tahitian export company in Oregon. She is also the author of the novel “Voluntary Chaos” and has published several magazine articles and written a collection of short stories.
Jackson spends ten weeks annually in her childhood home in Silver Lake, Ohio, caretaking and managing the home for her schizophrenic brother, who lives alone.
In her book, she fictionalizes her experiences with her schizophrenic brother (once a rising track star) and her son’s alcoholism (now sober and he went on to win the Amazing Race!) in a vivid first- hand account of the day-to-day roller- coaster of what it means to care for loved ones struggling with lifelong diseases.
