String of Attacks on Pets, Daily Sightings Intensify Community Concerns
Coyotes are unnerving residents in Mar Vista after a series of attacks on pets and encounters with the predators in the area for several weeks, as reported by CBS News.
According to local residents, coyote activity in the neighborhood has been a long-standing issue, but the intensity and frequency of sightings and incidents increased significantly starting in March.
The Los Angeles County Department of Weights and Measures, in response to the escalating coyote issue, recently conducted an inspection. Their findings were alarming-a coyote den was discovered near three properties in the neighborhood.
Multiple dogs in the community have been attacked by the coyotes, and sightings of the animals have become a daily occurrence. Residents believe a group of pups has matured, resulting in an estimated 10 coyotes frequenting the vicinity of their homes.
According to people in the neighborhood, the county advised them to buy airhorns and paintball guns to frighten the coyotes when they asked for help.
