Leaders in the Brentwood community have planned an unusual gathering for a unique man this Sunday Nov. 9 at 1 p.m. for a veteran who inspired many in the face of their own challenges through his poetry and compassion for others.
After Wendell Brown’s passing, many community members began learning about the lives he saved and significantly changed.
Some of those stories will be told in the same place Sunday where he sold his poems and conversed with passersby next to Vicente Foods at 12011 San Vicente Blvd. in Brentwood.
A fund has been started to make a bronze sculpture of Wendell, designed by Jonathan Bickart. Plans will be unveiled at Sunday’s memorial.
