Construction has finished on an over 150-unit housing development for UCLA medical staff and students.
Builders and real estate company Suffolk recently completed the construction of 1500 Granville, a multi-family, mixed-use building spanning 174,000 square feet in West Los Angeles. The new five-story complex was developed by CIM Group and designed by Lorcan O’Herlihy Architects (LOHA), featuring 153 units, 15,000 square feet of retail and 308 spaces of subterranean parking.
“We’re proud to play a role in the revitalization of this neighborhood with the completion of 1500 Granville,” said Ken Summers, General Manager of Suffolk Los Angeles. “As general contractor, we used the latest technologies and collaborative design processes to bring to life a community-focused space for students, residents and retailers.”
1500 Granville was sold by CIM Group to a joint venture between UCLA Housing and UCLA Medical, as a housing option for UCLA Medical’s House Staff (medical residents, fellows and interns), medical graduate students and other graduate students. The complex offers students the opportunity for a more affordable housing option.
The building features a contemporary architectural design and offers a mix of studio, one-bedroom, two-bedroom and live-work unit floorplans with 16 units set aside as affordable. Residents have a variety of indoor and outdoor gathering spaces including a clubhouse, co-working space, gym, pool area, BBQ and multiple outdoor and courtyard areas for recreation. The ground floor retail and restaurant spaces feature multiple outdoor dining and recreation areas that connect the public building space to the surrounding community.
This project is the final phase of the multi-block development previously occupied by car dealerships including the adjacent 147-unit apartment community, Elevate, and the three four-story buildings of The Westgate Collection.
