Thanks to the efforts by Councilmember Mike Bonin earlier this year, the Los Angeles City Council has officially adopted regulations that will raise the fines for food trucks that continue to operate in residential areas for extended periods of time.
Brentwood residents had become concerned back in January by the plethora of trucks in the neighborhood.
The new regulations prohibit food trucks from parking at any residential location for more than 30 minutes.
The regulations also prohibit trucks from parking within two blocks from the location they had initially been parked at within a four-hour period.
In addition, a food truck moving out of a location momentarily and then returning within the four-hour limitation does not reset the clock; the time and distance requirements still apply.
Food truck vendors that fail to comply will receive $73 for a first violation, $123 for the second violation and $173 for the third.
