Morabeza reported to be moving into Wilshire Boulevard space
By Dolores Quintana
There is a new restaurant in the process of building their new business in the old Bru Haus space at 11831 Wilshire Boulevard in Brentwood these days. Toddrickallen.com has been keeping an eye out and has reported that a mystery restaurant Morabeza is taking over.
Like Toddrickallen, we checked out the name and found that “morabeza” is the “Cape Verdean Creole word used to express Cape Verdean hospitality.” from what looks to be the official website of the Cape Verde Islands.
The Cape Verde Islands are a small archipelago off the coast of Senegal in Africa on the Atlantic side of the continent. The islands were colonized by Portugal and their website says that their culture has a “Portuguese atmosphere” which likely means that the food may have a lot of Portuguese influences as well as African influences. While there isn’t a website for the restaurant yet with a menu, there is a Facebook page for Morabeza where you can see more about how the restaurant is coming along during its construction.
