Spooktacular Library Updates and Events This Halloween Week!

Get Ready for Thrills, Chills, and a New STAR Reader

By Dolores Quintana

It is almost Halloween, and the Donald Bruce Kaufman – Brentwood Branch Library is ready for the last week of the spooky season. The library would like to give a big thank you to everyone who joined us for our Halloween storytime this past Saturday. It was a blast, and we were delighted by the fantastic, adorable, and spooky Halloween costumes on display!

We’re also thrilled to introduce a new STAR Reader to our library this week. STAR Readers are our dedicated volunteers who visit each week to read to the children in our 1st-floor children’s area. Please give a warm welcome to our newest volunteer, Farnaz, who is fluent in English and Farsi. Farnaz will be with us on Saturday afternoons from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. We invite you to drop by this Saturday and say hello!

Just a quick reminder: Monday is our “Lifestyles of the Slimy and Squishy” event. This event has reached full capacity with sign-ups and even has a waitlist. If you’ve signed up, but your child won’t be able to attend, kindly let us know so we can accommodate others.

Here’s a sneak peek of what’s coming up at the library this week:

  • Monday, 10/30 at 4:00 p.m.: “Lifestyles of the Slimy and Squishy” (Sorry, sign-ups are full!)
  • Wednesday, 11/1, at 10:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m.: Toddler/Preschool Storytime – Remember to get your ticket from the front desk on Wednesday morning.
  • Wednesday, 11/1 from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m.: STAR Reader Bonnie
  • Thursday, 11/2 from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m.: Brick-Building Playtime
  • Friday, 11/3, from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m.: STAR Reader Camille
  • Saturday, 11/4 from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m.: STAR Reader Farnaz
