An Evening of Intrigue, Innovation, Conversation With the Acclaimed Author
Acclaimed author Cory Doctorow will visit DIESEL, A Bookstore in Brentwood, on Tuesday, Feb. 18, at 6:30 p.m. to discuss and sign his latest novel, Picks and Shovels: A Martin Hench Novel.
The event is free to attend and will be held in the bookstore’s courtyard. Free seating is limited; however, attendees can reserve a seat by purchasing one copy of the book, which secures one seat. You can reserve your seat here.
Set in 1986 in San Francisco, “Picks and Shovels” introduces readers to Martin Hench, an MIT dropout who invents the role of a forensic accountant—someone who tracks money the way a bounty hunter tracks people. Hired by Silicon Valley startup Fidelity Computing to investigate a rival company founded by ex-employees, Marty soon realizes he’s on the wrong side. Drawn to the vibrant, rebellious spirit of the competitor, Computing Freedom, Marty joins forces with a group of brilliant young women determined to outsmart the predatory practices of Fidelity Computing.
Caught in a high-stakes battle for control of emerging technology, Martin and his allies must navigate a dangerous landscape of corporate espionage and betrayal.
DIESEL, A Bookstore is located at the Brentwood Country Mart, where it frequently hosts author events and community gatherings.
