LAFD to the Rescue and LADWP Worked to De-Energize Power Lines
The Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) responded to reports of the incident at approximately 11:05 a.m. in the 1300 block of South Comstock Avenue. Firefighters arrived to find a tree trimmer alert and oriented but still suspended in the tree. His trimming pole had become trapped in high-tension wires; he had been shocked but was trapped by the wires, creating a continued risk of electrical contact.
LAFD crews coordinated with the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP) to de-energize the high-voltage lines. After confirming the area was safe, firefighters secured the 40-year-old man and lowered him approximately 25 feet to the ground using a ladder.
The victim was assessed at the scene before being transported to a local hospital for further evaluation. No additional injuries were reported.
The incident remains under investigation.
